I began my work with the preschool classes.  They are going to learn about different styles of lines and look for lines in everyday life.  They enjoyed pointing out the lines they saw in their classrooms. The students then created drawings of the different kinds of lines they learned about.  We will turn this into a lesson on letter recognition, using the letters from their first names.

The students in Mrs. Christie's Bilingual Kindergarten Classroom started work on the next phase of their study in line and letter recognition.  They used lines of string to create art in the style of Mexican String Paintings. Each student chose a color and a letter and used glue to fill the letter shape in with the lines of string.

I set the atelier up in a way that would be organized and peak their interest.  They came in and immediately commented on the "rainbow" of string along the counter.

We have a Works in Process area to keep these safe and to share what we're doing with others.
