120- We started our day in the block area of 120 with the provocation, "How can we cross this river?"
G and N are in the block area.
N sprinkles flat marbles all over the blue mat.
N- These are the fish.
Teacher- How do we get to the other side?
G- Use a helicopter?
Teacher- Maybe. What if I need to drive my car from here to here and I can't drive in the water.
N- Maybe the cars could jump from here to there?
G picks up a tube.
N- We could just move the water and fish into this. It can be the water machine. Then there won't be water and you can drive across.
G picks up a strange marble that is a double flat marble, shaped like a figure eight.
G- These are my tiny sunglasses!
They fill the tube with marbles and then G asks if she should lift the tube.
They are underwhelmed with the result, so they decide to fill the tube with more.  They add the cars to the tube and then lift it again.
N- That was weird. Why did you add the cars?
G must agree, because she fills the tube again, leaving the cars outside of it this time.

N- okay! Now all of the water and fish are gone, so we can drive over it.

This was a very creative solution to the provocation, even though it wasn't what we expected they'd say!

116 came in for more work on balance.

103 began creating houses out of the wood scraps in the atelier.

102 talked about their farm trip and drew observational drawings of animals.
Teacher- What happened here?
T- the bus got stuck
S- How did it get stuck
T- I have no idea
M- When the bus gets stuck, it should keep driving. If it needs to turn back, it goes back. The driver went backwards and forwards.
Teacher- Do you know how it got unstuck?
M- Because of the snow
Teacher- That's how it became unstuck?
M- No- that's how it got stuck.
T- A tractor fixed it!
Teacher- What happened here
J- The horses were riding on a sleigh
Teacher- riding on it? Are you sure?
M- no! We were riding on it. They were walking.
T- they backed the sleigh up. They were walking in front of it. They were attached to it and then run and then the sleigh moves,.
Teacher- what did we see here?
M- Christmas trees
Teacher- what did you hear at the farm?
They all said they heard different animal sounds.
Teacher- what happened here?
T- we went on pony rides
Teacher- what did you learn about ponies?
J- that I like them
T- the horses are a different color and a different size.
Teacher- tell me about the fire
S- they didn't eat marshmallows
M- or s'mores.
J- we were getting warm.
