Second grade took a trip to the Albright Knox Art Gallery this week. You could see the effects of Story Workshop as they went from describing and analyzing the artwork to fully trying to interpret the pieces by telling stories about the pieces.
The ballerinas are dancing in the park and they brought their wallets to buy dinner later.
-Jailyn
They were dancing to earn money so they could buy food.
-Roshelys
Maybe they're dancing and they went to get food and they see a sign in the grass and then they know where to go and they buy their food.
-Kelis
Maybe the paint was dropping on the wood and the ballerina slipped and it got paint all over them.
-Yalin
The Mirror Room was closed, but the students still enjoyed interacting with it.
We went outside to check out Nancy Rubins' piece and our little Reggio-inspired kiddos were fascinated by the "helicopter" seeds falling from the trees. As soon as we approached the canoes, they were drawn to the structure. They noticed the use of wire to hold the sculpture in place.
